The colloquium held in Brest in May 2013 for the 50th anniversary of SÉNA, first of 
all celebrates a land of exchanges turned towards the Ocean and rich in specific and
 varied numismatics. From the ancient Veneti, now endowed with vast issues hitherto 
unsuspected, to the medals of the Breton Hospitallers and Rescuers, various aspects 
of Breton numismatics are discussed, often even renewed, as for the Rennes deniers 
imitated from the sceattas, the coinage of Conan II. or the Saint Malo workshop.
From the outset, money - the expression of a sovereign power and holder of a 
socially recognized value - was counterfeited. For profit, of course, but also 
sometimes to make political demands. The false gold shield in the Brittany sun of 
François Ier presented here, as well as the fraudulent French species of the old
regime identified, illustrate the industry of forgers that justice sometimes struggle
s to punish, as shown by the archives of the 17th century. s. Spanish. Finally, 
the Monegasque gold shield invented by B. Pillon is the result of intellectual 
falsification in the service of an ideology.
